Minnesota Office of Animal Protection will act as the central point of contact for state-wide domestic animal investigations. Also, the Office of Animal Protection will act as the central point of contact in assisting with questions from our law enforcement counterparts.

MISSION / OBJECTIVES

MINNESOTA OFFICE OF ANIMAL PROTECTION

The Office of Animal Protection (OAP) prevents, prepares for, responds to, and provides education about animal crimes, cruelty, and domestic animal issues in Minnesota. The OAP works for the citizens of Minnesota providing protection from dangerous animals and protecting their domestic animals from animal cruelty, neglect, or natural disasters by providing education and enforcement related to domestic animal laws.

These include the following:
 

1. Animal Crimes Investigation-Training and Outreach Efforts

 

2. Creation of a Central Dangerous Animal Database

 

3. Disaster Relief Coordination for Domestic Animals

 

4. General Inquiries or Questions from Law Enforcement

 

5. Standardization of Response for Domestic Animal Services
